If you're thinking about selling your boat look no further. Here are some of the most important things to consider.
6 top tips for sellers
- Be honest with any prospective purchaser. In the end either they or the surveyor will find any problems with the vessel i.e. if you are up front in the first place they will not ask for more money off after survey.
- When selling your boat realise that it is a second hand boat and it is not new. Do not let the buyer push you in to changing light bulbs or door handles, it is a second hand boat.
- Clear personal effects that will block the full view and space of the boat.
- Leave some items on the boat to create a bit of atmosphere, some kitchenware or soft furnishings etc.
- Make sure the boat is clean! First impressions really do count and if the boat looks well maintained cosmetically then prospective buyers feel more positive instantly. You can also demand more on the final price!
- Have all of your paperwork ready. Lost or defaced documents can slow down a sale and buyers get frustrated.
